I’m currently an undergraduate at the University of New Hampshire, and honestly have no clue what I want to do with my life… but that doesn’t keep me from having direction. I’m exploring as much of the medical field as I possibly can, through reading and shadowing various professions. I was originally set on dentistry, but now I may be considering emergency medicine. There’s something about dentistry that keeps drawing me back, I really like how you can help people and improve their daily lives without very invasive procedures. If I do stick with Dentistry, I would love to specialize in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
In addition to being a full-time student, I also run my own business which keeps me extremely busy during the summer months. Dog & Claw, LLC was started in 2009, after I purchased the equipment off a good friend of mine. I’ve built a reputation for having (some of) the best Lobster Rolls in Portsmouth, NH. I’ve met many great people through the business, not to mention TONS of real-life skills that can be applied to nearly and future venture I may partake in. I’ve also learned about risk management, after a nearly failed expansion project…
On top of all of that, I began flying in June of 2009. I was flying twice a week, on entirely my own dollar. I figured it would take approximately 8 months to get my license, but I had to take a few weeks off here and there, due to starting college and other serious obligations (such as track). I just past the year mark and while I used to think I would be disappointed, I realized that I went at a nice leisurely pace and it doesn’t matter how long it takes! All that matters is I have become a proficient pilot throughout my entire training. Currently, I hope to get my license before I have to go back to school on Aug 30th. That way I can take a couple of my friends flying before we all part ways again.
Some goals I have for flying:
- Complete IFR rating
- Learn Aerobatics
- Fly a Pitts, Extra, and MX2
Some destinations I’d like to go in the near future:
- Rutland, VT
- Nantucket, MA
- Montauk, NY
- Rhode Island
